M&U Staff: Emmanuel Masini

Emmanuel Masini – CEO, Researcher & Consultant @ M&U sasu

As the CEO of M&U sasu and as a basin/structural geologist, my ambition is to generate value by better linking Industry and Academic interests in Geosciences. Let’s face challenges imposed by our changing world through Geology…”

Short bio

Emmanuel Masini received his Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Strasbourg.

Emmanuel received his Ph.D. in 2011 at the University of Strasbourg (France) focused on tectonics and sedimentary processes of rifting and oceanization archived within the Alps, Pyrenees and California.

In 2011 he obtained a post-doctoral fellow within an Academic-Industry research consortium focused on rifted margins and inversion processes (Margin Modeling Phase 3).

In 2013 he joined the Structural Geology service of Total SA where his challenge was to integrate the observed variability of rifted margins offshore into the geological models of the company as well as into the exploration workflows.

In 2015 he moved to the R&D department of Total SA where he took the leadership of a large Industry-Academic Research program: the OROGEN project, the main aim of which was to investigate, image and model the reactivation of rifts and rifted margins during orogenesis. OROGEN not only delivered new breakthrough knowledge on both rifting and orogenic processes but is also at the geoscience roots of the ongoing “Native-H2” rush in the Pyrenees, Western Europe.

In 2018, Emmanuel created M&U sasu, a Geoservice, R&D and Consulting company. He also joined the ISTerre Geosciences institute at the University of Grenoble (France) as Associate Researcher. He is now leading a growing team of talented Geoscientists committed to empowering New Venture Explorations for both the Energy and Mining sectors through innovation and Research.
