M&U Staff: Júlia Gómez-Romeu

Júlia Gómez-Romeu – Researcher and Consultant @ M&U sas

As a researcher and consultant at M&U sasu, her aim is to better understand lithospheric-scale tectonic processes by using both geological observations and quantitative techniques such as kinematic modelling.

Short bio

Júlia joined M&U sasu in July 2019 after finishing her Ph.D. at the University of Liverpool (United Kingdom) within the framework of an academic-industry research consortium on rifted margins (Margin Modelling Phase 4).

During her Ph.D., she focused on the tectonic processes of rifted margins and their reactivation during collision using geophysical techniques (gravity inversion, subsidence analysis and forward kinematic modelling). In particular, she investigated how lithosphere extends at magma-poor rifted margins by looking at the relationship between extensional faults within the brittle upper crust and the deep distributed pure-shear deformation within the lower crust and upper mantle.

Júlia holds a bachelor’s degree in geology and a master’s degree in geology and geophysics from the University of Barcelona (Spain).
